Sliders or Carousels have an important advantage on mobile as they can fit a lot of content into a relatively small footprint. However, they also have important disadvantages: sequentiality and discoverability.
They are based on sequential access which means users must go through all the items one by one in order to see all the content. Check for example the Walkthrough Component.
Also, they are not always discoverable. Even if people recognize the slider or carousel, they will often have no way to know what types of items are hosted in it without interacting with it.
